2 Ways to Compare Link Power of Two or More Sites
There are many possible cases when you would like to compare the link power of two or more pages or sites:
- You may want to compare two or more of your competitors to identify the strongest / weakest one;
- You may want to compare the site link power and its rankings (remember, the quantity of links is not all: site age, link quality and other factors come into play);
- You may want to compare your site with a similar one to find out who is faster to grow, etc.
Here are 2 simple (and quick!) ways to compare the link power of two sites:
Majestic SEO has a nice free tool comparing the link power of two (for unregistered users) or 5 (for registered users) domains. The comparison is visualized via the graph:

SEOquake FireFox addon lets you compare backlinks of two or more sites. The data is based on Yahoo SiteExplorer page analysis.
The feature is accessed in several ways:
- right click on SEOquake icon in the status-bar and choose “Check/Compare URLs and domains”;
- click on SEOquake icon on the tool toolbar or SEO bar and choose “Check/Compare URLs and domains”.

Any more tools to compare link power of several sites? Or tips on ho to use this data? Please share!

Works for me right now
I know you’re aware of them but a couple other tools I like are Linkscape which offers this functionality, even in their basic reports, which are free; since all of the tools (YSE, LinkScape, Majestic SEO) have slightly different biases I sometimes like to peek at all of them for deeper dives to get a general sense of link comparison.
Another great tool for comparing back links in line with other metrics is SEO for FireFox; this is only really applicable when your competitors or you and a competitor show up in a SERP, but it’s really nice to have raw link data with some context around it (.edu links, social book marks, any number of other metrics you may deem relevant).
Nice post!

Thanks Ann for a nice article!
Sorry about some downtime yesterday – we started receiving about 20 times more requests to our API server than usual and that made things a bit difficult! We’ve now moved API server to be on separate hardware from the main site, sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused!
Hope you enjoyed the charts, they are very addictive!
I’m a big fan of the Majestic SEO tool, been using it the last couple of weeks and found it very informative.
Haven’t used the SEOQuake tool, going to test it out soon! Thanks

http://linkdiagnosis.com has always been a good friend to me
It’s free, and you can generate some pretty decent backlink data on most sites.
I like the features of SEO Quake, but Yahoo’s data always seems to be behind Google’s. Especially with a relatively new site. If only there was a way SEO Quake was based on G’s data!
Just testing out Majestic and LinkDiagnosis now – I haven’t heard of those 2 before. Thanks for the tips

Google’s public data is limited and seldom updates. Yahoo is better than nothing

This is great… I have been using LinkDiagnosis and doing sites one at a time and making spreadsheets to compare certain metrics… sooooo time consuming. Majestic is pretty sweet.
Thanks Ann for the recommended link analysis tools. Majestic SEO looks interesting, however I have had issues with SEO Quake previously killing my browser a while ago.

Another great way to compare sites is through SeoBook Firefox addon. It can compare upto 5 websites at a time. It provides more data rather tha just showing backlinks. This is one of my best tool that I frequently use for SEO purpose.
I tried a lot about this in google and found this an excellent reference post co. helped me a lot, just looking at that. congratulations.

SEOQuake is an awesome tool that we use in analyzing our site compared to our competition. It has so many features and is not as intruding as other add-ons.
Have played with the Majestic SEO tool, but was not aware of SEOquake FireFox addon, installing now
Thanks.
Nice tip, I didn’t know Majestic SEO. I’m used to LinkScape to compare link power of sites.
Any good articles on the linking value of social websites? Any chance Google will ignore those sites from rankings?
sohbet chat sohbet kanallar?
This is good article to get high ranking. But there is most important thing is that if you want promote your site for a specific keyword than you should have to start off site optimization for that keyword. Just like link building and article syndication is best part of off page optimization to get high ranking on SERP.
Great!!! It’s all we need to spy the competitor
The SEOQuake is the best tool for compare the power of two different site’s link bulding.

It’s interesting to see that Firefox’s strength now is not so much efficient web browsing, but rather based on it’s tools and plugins.
I’ve heard people using Firefox purely for SEO analysis rather than as their main browser.
I use the “check/compare” function in SEO Quake to see if my backlinks have been indexed in Google. If they haven’t yet, I ping those sites, then create an RSS feed of those sites and submit them to some RSS aggregators. Anyone else doing this?
