all of the time, writing great content and building links to your site so you can get it ranking and visible to begin with. However, once you have done this you are not guaranteeing that new visitors to your site will come back for another go, how are you going to do that? Here are a few tips.

Engage With Readers

If you are not engaging with your readers then there is no way you can expect them to come back to you. If someone submits a comment make sure you take the time to look at it and reply. The very least you should do is acknowledge the fact that it is there.

If you get a question that you don’t know the answer to (I have had this many times) then take the time to do a bit of research to get the right answer and be sure to include your sources in your reply. The user will now know you have not only taken the time to answer them but have also taken time in researching your answer. This goes a long way and will encourage them to return to your site.

If you really want to go that extra mile you could even formulate a post around a question or comment that has been posted on your site.

Accept Guest Posts

Another way to get people coming into your site regularly is to allow them access to write guest blogs on the site. Not only will this encourage people to write great content for the site but they will let all of their friends know once their finished article has been published. This puts your site out to more people and might even attract them to come to your site to see the content that you have.

Ask Questions

Popping the odd question and call to action at the end of a post every now and again is a great call to action to your readers to leave comments and interact with the way you write. Doing this will keep people coming back. When asking questions make sure you don’t try and start up an argument because this will anger people more than anything and whilst you may get a response you are not going to get them returning to your site.

Don’t Publish For The Sake Of It

It is great to be writing something on the blog every day of the week but if you are really struggling to write great content then your work will suffer because of it. Never set a time to stop on a certain post because it will end up looking rushed and terrible. Put a time in the diary to sit down and work on the blog and just work on the piece until it is done. Sometimes this could take minutes and other times it can take hours, never rush anything.
