Cool Tip to Make Sense of Neglected (Parked) Domains: Creative WordPress Uses

It is often that we park a domain due some reason (for example, to secure your (brand) name like I did with annsmarty.com domain) and you just don’t know what to do with it. Thus the domain just remains neglected while it could work as an additional link juice help.

Years in Internet marketing have taught me one important thing (actually more than one but this one really counts for this post): you should never neglect anyone or anything. You never know when this domain, you never had time for, might have earned you real recognition or helped you a lot if it had been live.

So go ahead, find your neglected domain(s) and set up a site. And here’s a great post to get some inspiration:
18 Alternative Ways To Use Wordpress

The point is, this doesn’t have to be another regular blog you (and your followers) may be used to. Try creating something new and fresh and make it by simply tweaking our good old Wordpress:

  2. These are all good ideas, but I think there is a fine line between setting up a spammy WordPress site and utilizing the domain to provide relevant/good content (or media).

Thanks for sharing the ideas and resources to get these types of sites put together. I’m sure there are valuable applications to them for most parked sites… just requires some creativity & quick hard work to get setup.

  4. Good ideas Ann but as Cory states we all need to think twice when doing things like this provided that they add value in their own right and don’t just become glorified Link Wheels.

  12. I completely agree about not neglecting purchased domains. I like to at least get one page up on the domain name versus parking it. This way the name has a chance to be indexed and gain some age and then when I finally get around to building a site on it, it is much easier to get other pages indexed quickly.
