Creating content is one thing, and getting it out there is another thing altogether. Every business and blogger would want to see their content going viral; repinned on Pinterest, liked and shared on Facebook, +1’d on Google+ and retweeted on Twitter. However, most people don’t know where to start when it comes to social media sharing.
The following are some guidelines which will make your content more shareable.
1. Be original
Originality is very important for getting your content shared on social media. If people have already seen or read the content you are posting, they will not have any reason to share it. However, if it is something they are learning or seeing for the first time, they would be more willing to share it with others.
2. Create great content
Besides being original, you need to ensure that your content is beneficial to your followers. It is therefore important to take time to research on what topics would be of most interest to your audience. When your content is relevant, timely and well-presented, people will begin to recognize you as an authority in your niche. As a result, this will enhance the chances of your content being shared.
3. Use video and photos
Posts which contain videos and photos are more attractive than those which only comprise of text, and are thus more likely to be shared or liked. It is therefore important to incorporate these visual elements in your posts, whether they are related to your topic or not. To keep your followers engaged, use videos and photos which not just informative, but also thought-provoking and humorous.
4. Be concise
Most of your followers and fans are very impatient and don’t have the time to read through lengthy posts. It would therefore be advisable to keep your posts as brief as possible. This will enhance their chances of being read and shared.
5. Use quotes
Most people love quotes. Therefore, sharing interesting quotes can be a very effective strategy for grabbing the attention of your fans and followers. Take time to regularly post thought-provoking, humorous or inspiring quotes on your social media profiles. These are likely to be shared, retweeted, repinned or +1’d many times.
6. Post at the right time
Posting great content is not enough. You need to post it at a time when most of your fans and followers are likely to see and share it. Carry out some research to find out what days of the week and times of the day would work best for your audience. For instance, you might realize that your fans and followers are most active on weekend afternoons or evenings during the week. Therefore, posting at these times will enable you to reach as many people as possible, thus increasing the chances of your content being shared.
