Integrating Facebook with WordPress

WordPress is a great content management system. Each WordPress blog is already optimized to be Google-friendly. That is why many business owners use WordPress blogs to promote their products and services.

Social media sites like Facebook make it very easy to connect with customers. Therefore, combining the two sites is a very wise idea. However, not every business owner knows how to integrate Facebook with WordPress. Even if they do know how to combine the sites, they may not know to how effectively use them in conjunction.

Here are some ways you should integrate Facebook with your WordPress site.

Use a Plugin

There are many plugins that allow you to add Facebook comment boxes and login options to your blog. Some of them are easy to use, and some of them are not. You can find many great ways to integrate Facebook options directly to your site straight from this URL.

However, there are also some third-party developers that have customized Facebook plugins. Whether you take advantage of these features or not is up to you. However, it would be wise to include a “login using Facebook” feature on your site. Many people would rather sign into websites using their Facebook information, rather than make a registered account with each site.

Share Content

Every time you make a new blog post for your WordPress site, you should share it on Facebook as well. Facebook’s “notes” feature act like a mini blog, and you can include your site’s URL at the end of each note.

You should also use a plugin feature that shows your Facebook activity on your WordPress site. If your visitors see your Facebook activity, they may add you as a friend. If this does not sound like something you want to do, consider this; each new friend on Facebook provides an opportunity for word of mouth marketing, as well as added exposure for your products.

Regardless, you can always make a new account on Facebook, or even a business page, that is strictly for your customers. That way your personal information is not public.

WPBook is a great plugin that automatically cross posts all of your content. Along with cross posting the content on both sites, it shows all the comments from either site. This is a great way to maximize your exposure along with appearing authoritative.

Encourage Activity

If you do not encourage your visitors to join your Facebook site, they will not. In this case, a call to action is necessary. In fact, even just a simple call to action can greatly increase the traffic between your WordPress site and your Facebook site.

Customers who join your Facebook business page can share your page with all of their friends. That is why it is important to make your business page visible to your blog’s visitors. A small call to action can result in a great word of mouth marketing campaign.

Use Facebook Analytics

Facebook has an analytics plugin that provides a detailed report on separate domains and apps. Every business owner should have a statistics program to stay informed of where their traffic and sales are coming from.

Other than some basic coding, integrating Facebook with WordPress is not difficult. Simply copying and pasting pre-made HTML and CSS into your site’s code is usually all that is necessary, other than plugging in your URL to the pre-made code.

By integrating your Facebook with your blog, your site will be much more sociable, and of course, social sites are much more popular than informational sites.

I actually found it really annoying to use a lot of plugins to integrate FB with WordPress, but then I finally found one that worked perfectly and wasn’t limited to FB only.

It even gave the option to add Google, Yahoo, Twitter and OpenID as well!
