Keywords Research for Online SEO Applications

Have you ever wondered why that really good looking website that you thought had all the perfect information on it to get tons of traffic doesn’t rank anywhere near well on the search engines?

Sure it’s great looking, but who can tell if they can’t find it?

And how about your web site? Are you working hard hard on your web site SEO (search engine optimization) to improve your search engine rankings and conversions, but doing that manually yourself turns out to be too confusing? Oregon SEO or Portland SEO, Greg Beddor, shared some great insight on keyword research with us.

There are many online SEO (search engine optimization) applications which can help you analyze and measure your web site’s rankings and conversions potential. Even if nobody knows the exact algorithms that the search engines use, they still can be very helpful if you are not afraid to use your intelligence and common sense.

If you would do a search with search engines to find such kind of applications, which keyphrase would you type in the search engines search box to find them? Please help giving your vote in the poll below.

    I chose SEO software. :-)

  3. David Brown says:

I chose seo tools – but then again being a search geek if I didn’t find what I was looking for I’d try multiple phrases ;)

  4. Chotrul says:

You talk about measuring search rankings and conversions potential. How are you measuring conversions potential? What exactly is the potential to convert on a site?

  5. Jack | Online marketing blog says:

I use seo tools, but I often try to figure out how people are searching by analyzing our analytics stats, and ppc campaigns.

I chose Search Engine Optimization Tool. I think this keyphrase will give me more accurate information.

  7. Justin March says:

I would look for recomendations across forums and places like Search Engine Journal so none of the above realy.

I hope John is doing so keyword research here. It would be interesting to see if this not so random sampling has any correlation to results from a reputable keyword tool.

I picked SEO tools, by the way.

  9. Tubby says:

I mostly find myself either using the word ‘software’ or ‘program’ when searching for things to play with for my web site, so I would most likely Choose ‘SEO Software’ out of the options offered.
As a second choice of the option offered I might pick ‘SEO tools’.

  10. Doc says:

I voted for “seo tools”. In this particular instance, I can’t see that using the longer “search engine optimization tools” would be likely to be of any greater benefit, although with many less technical topics the longer version would probably be better.

  11. Afzal Khan says:

I chose “SEO Tools”, but being an SEO I would search it for either “SEO applications” and many other keyword phrase until I get the informational page for which I am looking for exactly.

Although I feel “SEO software” would be the Right Choice as per your poll question :-)

  12. Jon says:

I might use it all if I can’t find what I am looking for. but first I will try seo tools..

  13. Whitney Segura says:

Well, very interesting, but I have to say “SEO Tools” would be my pick!

  14. nukemdomis says:

Always good stuff from webnauts. I would have preferred an “other” box because my query would have been a lot longer than the ones provided.

I would have to say other and would search “keyword tool”

  16. John S. Britsios (aka Webnauts) says:

Can you please explain why “keyword tool”?

  17. increase targeted web site traffic says:

I chose keyword tool, basically for me i find this as the need or the core of having good SEO. The site below might help you as well. Thanks for the survey.
    increase targeted web site traffic

  18. clayton says:

lol the guy above me is an imposer. I chose keyword since when I think of tool for search engine marketing I think of something that analyzes keyword rankings. hence keyword tool

  19. Ryan says:

I chose SEO tools also. I think it comes down to the fact that we expect our programs to do more and more every day. So I no longer think of searching for “poster” or “analyzer”, I want something that does it all. So, tool works best for me.

  20. Tanya Shnider says:

If i were searching for seo tools i would choose well…. seo tools.
The thing is, i still do all my work manually, i believe in quality over quantity and that if you want to get a backlink from a PR 8 edu site you will need a meaningful post.

I still use tools for niche research and finding various resources though.
