Link Building Risks and Value Infographic
Recently SEOs have started to be afraid of Penguins. These ferocious beasts have devoured websites the world over. Is there a cure for this blight? Yes there is- a diverse link profile.
When a link builder only focuses on links with the intent of increasing the search ranking of their website they are risking the success of their website on the current algorithm. When that algorithm changes (presumably to prevent people from gaming it, like they are doing) they risk losing the benefits of their efforts and have to scurry to find the next way to trick Google.
What I am trying to show in the infographic, below, is that links can be valuable even if they do not help increase your search engine ranking. When you approach link building in this way your website will not be as dramatically affected by changes in algorithms and you won’t have to fear Penguins- or the next furry creature to attack the web.

Great infographic. I love how you displayed it as piping!
A little mistake in there “still send visitors website” other than that, very good infographic.
Making money online starts with attracting traffic to your site. Of course this does not happen overnight. You need to exert some effort and spend time working on a strategy that gets more people to visit your site. This is where most internet marketers get stuck and confused.
In reality, most internet marketers say that generating site traffic is the biggest challenge they face
Awesome infographic! The piping imagery works perfect haha. You covered some good points…but with the Penguin updates we now have links that negatively affect our SEO. I believe that creating compelling content will help in driving quality links as part of any SEO strategy. Although, the time line in producing and distributing content is longer, the value from those backlinks are greater. However, do you think Goole takes a look at the speed a site gains its backlinks can negatively affect the rankings?
When it comes to link building, focus on quality instead of quantity. The best links are from places that actual target audience members are visiting.
Another typo – “publically” should be “publicly”.
IMHO, this is NOT a great infographic, not because of the imagery, but it fails to address the topic it purports to portray. Its premise is “How will a link help my website”. It does not say anywhere that the link is coming from a RELEVANT site in the same niche, e.g. a camera article that links to a camera manufacturer site.
So, the infographic link could well be coming from an adult site and meet all the criteria for the green path and end at a kindergarten website. I can’t see any value there.
Everyone who runs a website knows that link building is a tiresome but necessary action. It is one of the finest ways of increasing website traffic and yet, most individuals don’t have the time or patience needed to carry it out properly.
